3 DAYS TREK : PANAUTI, DHULIKHEL AND NAGARKOT
DAY 1
KATHMANDU – PANAUTI – DHULIKHEL
After breakfast, we will pick up early by our driver to transport you to the starting point of the trek in Panauti Village. This historic village of Panauti captures the urban design, elegant architecture and refined culture of a Nepalese town in the 12th century. The entire city is beautifully adorned with patis (open-air rest-houses); while the temples rose along the banks of its two holy rivers is a delight for the eyes.
From here, you'll continue walking to the holy Namobuddha, which means 'Hail to the Buddha'. The name of the stupa is linked to one of the 'Jataka' legends recounting the previous lives, where Gautam Buddha had fed his own flesh to a hungry tigress who had just given a new birth. Namo Buddha it’s one of the most important pilgrim sites in the valley, particularly for Tibetan Buddhists. The sceneries are rich from the vast valleys to the high Himalayan range bordering the entire northern horizon. In this trip we'll have opportunities to experience a bit of real village life. The many flags and pilgrims dressed in colorful robes form a vibrant display around the bright white dome of the stupa.
After picnic lunch you will set off on a hike through the countryside to Dhulikel. When trekking near Kathmandu you leave the urban landscape behind and pass through fields, small villages and forest. So, you'll get a good feel for rural life in Nepal. Dhulikel is a beautifully preserved Newari town made up of traditional stone houses reaching 4-5 stores high. Traditionally, they're home to large families with often as many as 50 relatives all living under one roof. Dhulikhel lies 18 km. east of Bhaktapur. In the old days, Dhulikhel flourished as a focal point of trading between Kathmandu and Tibet. Today, the town enchants visitors with its cultural heritage and stunning views of the mountains.
You can enjoy in the hotel the view, and it’s particularly memorable at the end of the day, when the sun slowly sets beyond the horizon and the mountains glow in the evening light.
DAY 2
DHULIKHEL – NAGARKOT
After Breakfast we will take a scenic trek to Nagarkot.
We will start the trek. It's a scenic walk of about 4-5 hours through green terraced fields and, if the weather is clear enough, we will have fantastic views of the Himalayan Mountains. On one short leg of the journey you can avoid walking along the roadside by jumping on a local bus for a couple of km. The village of Nagarkot, the highest point in the Kathmandu Valley (2175 m.), which lies to the north-east of Bhaktapur and approx 30km to the east of Kathmandu, it’s now a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. The village has a great panoramic view of the East Himalayas like Manaslu (7111 m.), Langtang (7246 m.), Choba Bhamre (6016 m.) and also Everest (8848 m.).
